Maxine Valensky qualified as a massage/beauty therapist in 1986. She has, in more recent years, completed further training in pregnancy massage and massage for babies and children

Having had children of her own she views massage therapy during pregnancy, with new eyes; a mothers eyes; a pregnant womans eyes and with her skills as a massage therapist has developed a desire to cater for some of the common discomforts experienced during pregnancy and beyond.

Maxine has a passionate belief that if there is ever a time in a womans life when she needs support, sound knowledge, care and nurturing on any level, it is during pregnancy and childbirth.

  1. Pregnancy massage can help relieve back pain associated with muscular tension.
  2. Pregnancy massage helps relieve edema or swelling by stimulating circulation throughout the body.
  3. Leg massage can help reduce leg cramps and swelling in the legs.
  4. Massage is very beneficial for relaxing anxiety during pregnancy
  5. Massage can help promote more restful sleep and help prevent pregnancy related insomnia.

Osteopathy

Jeanette Thomson DO ND D.Hom

I qualified in Osteopathy in 1982 and Medical Acupuncture in 2001.  Osteopathy treats painful muscles and joints anywhere in the body.  It has its main emphasis on the structural integrity of the body especially the spine and many of the diagnostic procedures I employ are used in conventional medicine.  I work closely with G.Ps although no referral from them is necessary.  I can provide off-work certificates, medical reports and am registered with BUPA, PPP/AXA etc.  Acupuncture is used for pain relief.  Modern Western Acupuncture can be understood in scientific terms.  Acupuncture needles are inserted into trigger points and used in conjunction with osteopathy where indicated to give relief to painful conditions such as migraine and sciatica.

Osteopathy can help with the following: low back pain, headaches, rheumatic pain, whiplash, arthritic pain, sciatica, neck pain, joint pain, period pain, sports injuries, joint stiffness, frozen shoulder.
